The Nod – TBV #2
The kids were gone for the weekend, and finally returned yesterday after school. Normally they come home Sunday night, but they were taken to school that morning, so today was really extra jarring when they arrived. Whirlwinds of homework, baths, unpacking, missing jackets, a tablet misuse/search party, and a dinner later – we finally got to chill.
The kids marveled over the Christmas tree filled with presents underneath, and then ensued the “hey what’s this” game – so now we have to keep one eye open every time we walk off! After a bit of talk amongst us, it was off to bed, and the kids were tucked in.
It’s around 8pm at this point, our day is winding down, but we still have gifts to wrap. Let me tell you, I wrap like crap, so my girlfriend takes the brunt of this load. We both have to work tomorrow – but she’s a trooper, pulls the table out, and gets to wrapping while watching her new “favorite” show, “This is us.” Mind you I generally work on my blog, and other things around this time – but I am keeping this show in my peripheral vision- and my god this has got to be one of the saddest shows ever conceived by man. Every episode is literally an emotional landmine, primed, and ready to devastate your emotions.
So I’m leveling my Revenant in Guild Wars 2, it’s around level 28 – I’m having a general blast. Then it hits me. I call it “The Nod.” It’s this new phenomenon where I will randomly start dozing off, while functionally doing something. I hope I’m not becoming narcoleptic, but I literally get so tired at night from the exhaustion of all my daily going-ons.
I get upstairs, we take our showers, we’re ready for bed, and I can feel it. This sense of sleep-relief coming. I make this joking remark how I’m going to pass out as soon as my head hits the pillow. We chuckle over it a minute, and then we lay down, and funny enough I’m half asleep, and she makes a comment about how I wasn’t lying. I chuckle, then that’s the last thing I remember…. She gets so jealous I can go to sleep like this.
This morning was great though – got up, all three kids got ready efficiently and semi-happy. Made it to work on time, and having a genuine good day! I’m off the next two days from work, and I need to catch up on laundry.
Currently I have a lot going on in the oven of my blogmanship, and within the furnace, I have a few things starting to come out of the forge. I have a blog community project I plan to release details on Thursday, got my first game review out, started this here little microblogging project, and also building my pinterest social up a bit. Things are so exciting, I can’t wait to share so much more with the world!
